5 Important Water Safety Rules
- Always Swim with a Buddy: Whether you're at the pool, beach, or lake, swimming with a buddy significantly reduces the risk of accidents. Look out for each other and be there to lend a hand if needed.
- Learn to Swim: Knowing how to swim is one of the best defenses against drowning. Enroll in swimming lessons, regardless of age, and become confident in the water.
- Never Swim Alone: Avoid swimming alone, even if you're a strong swimmer. Always have someone nearby who can help in case of an emergency.
- Obey Posted Signs and Warning Flags: Pay attention to signs and warning flags posted at beaches and pools. They provide crucial information about water conditions, hazards, and lifeguard availability.
- Stay Within Designated Areas: Stick to designated swimming areas whenever possible. These areas are typically supervised by lifeguards and are safer for swimming than unmarked or unauthorized areas.
